Comprehensive surveys for historic buildings and sites

We understand the importance of preserving architectural heritage

AC Archaeology conducts historic building surveys to document and assess the significance of heritage structures.

Using detailed recording methods, our team evaluates architectural features, materials, and historical development to provide a clear understanding of a building’s past. These surveys support planning applications, conservation efforts, and restoration projects by ensuring informed decision-making, while balancing preservation with development.

Historic Building Survey Services

  • Interior of a stone church with high arched ceilings, small stained glass windows, and religious paintings. There is a wooden table with flowers and framed photos near the entrance.

    Heritage Statements

We prepare clear and robust Heritage Statements that assess how proposed developments may affect historic buildings and their settings, supporting planning and listed building consent applications.

  • An empty, unfinished room with arched red brick ceilings, gray concrete walls, a window with black framing on the right, and a partially constructed brick wall in the center. The floor appears to be concrete with stains.

    Building Assessments

We undertake detailed assessments of individual buildings to identify and explain their architectural and historic significance, highlighting areas of greater and lesser sensitivity to change.

  • A large industrial building with a white, curved roof and tall, white walls, located in an open, paved area with some grass and parked cars.

    Written Schemes of Investigation (WSIs)

We produce detailed WSIs that set out clear methodologies for historic building recording, ensuring compliance with planning requirements and best practice standards.

  • Worker in safety gear inspecting the floor inside a tunnel with a flashlight and a measurement device
